New Hampshire Legislative Process Map

What’s the back story behind the legislative process map?

In 2010 I worked a nonprofit trying to understand our region’s ecosystem around biomass heating. As I began meeting with communities I realized I didn’t know enough about our state’s legislative process: how a bill becomes a law. I was astonished to find no one had developed clear documentation to explain it. So, I worked with partners to develop something that put things in simple terms, and visually showed the steps of a bill becoming (or not becoming) a law.

The original partners to develop the first version of this map were Northern Forest Center, New Hampshire Office of Consumer Advocate, The Dupont Group, New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits, and Conservation New Hampshire. I recreated the map in Miro (January 2026).

Will you make them for other states? (But wait, all States don’t have the same legislative process?! No, they do not.)

I would love to! If you are interested in seeing a legislative process map for your state, be in touch. Let’s find a way to work together to make it happen, and get funding to do it!

My dream is to help develop maps for all 50-states.
